As my old job winds down and a new one possibly begins I am left with no free time. Add in IM training, a husband and an additional roommate, my additional family and friends and you get one overwhelmed Amy. Which makes for a lot less time blogging...be it writing myself or reading yours. I anticipate being busy for the next month as I'm in limbo with the job situation and as that comes to a close, my IM training is ramping up. So let me apologise upfront if I don't stop by your blog/comment as often as I used to. What's the saying...its not you, it's me. :)
With that out of the way I'd like to share some pictures from last weekend (June 27th). Saturday morning Katie and I volunteered for Fleet Feet by setting up an aid station for their "Have A Drink On Us" campaign. The idea is to get the Fleet Feet name out by offering free water and/or a sports drink to anyone enjoying the outdoors. We set up "shop" at the entrance of a popular trail head and offered cold drinks to anyone who was interested for about an hour and a half. It was way more fun than I anticipated and successful too.

After manning the station we decided to leave it set up and started our scheduled 10-11 mile run. We planned to do two 5+ mile loops at the Boulder Res with a stop in between (at our booth) to get water. It was hot out but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Some days it seems like KK and I could talk forever and not run out of things to say. Even if we just said everything we needed to 5 minutes beforehand. We saw some fellow HEPsters on the trail which was fun too.
Then Sunday (June 28th) we did a 62 mile ride along with Steve that was beautiful. We biked from Boulder up to Carter Lake and back. It was a hard climb up to the lake but a great ride overall. When we were done I felt off and after talking with Katie, she figured out that I didn't drink any electrolytes during the ride and that was probably the cause. After drinking an electrolyte shake I felt much better.

And as long as I thought that workout was, this past Friday (July 3) I set out to do my longest workout to date. A 62 mile bike followed by a 13 mile run. Gulp.I am happy to report that it went really well. My friend Kelly did the ride with me so we both woke up early and met in Boulder. We did a two loop course and it was very scenic and the time flew by for both of us. The weather started off iffy but ended up sunny and warm. I drank plenty of Gatorade this time and felt great. When we finished the ride I changed my clothes and started off on my run. By that time it was pretty hot out. The run was long but all things considered, I didn't encounter any issues. I ran slow because of the heat but felt good.
The rest of the weekend was awesome. We went to a concert at Red Rocks and BBQed for the 4th. It was a wonderful holiday weekend and now I am in full PVD (post vacation depression). I hope everyone else enjoyed their weekend and I look forward to catching up on your blogs soon.

No worries, you gots some trainin to do. It's great that you're getting in some heat training. Don't avoid, embrace it and get your salts all dialed in for KY.
Keep up the great work! Did you go to Wilco?????? I wanted to go, but had already booked my ticket for Michigan... boo!
Deal with first things first. Doing life is better and more important that writing about it. Even if we all go into withdrawl....
What a great idea to do the drinks thing!
Holy crap, 100 K ride, then run 21K!! Good for you! Hope the job transition goes well.
Nice long brick Amy! The water stop volunteering sounds fun too. Great weekend. :)
sounds like a brilliant weekend! i can totally relate to prioratizing life!! good on ya for recognizing it. i'm so excited for your new adventure too!
Good lord remind me never to wear that "sports bra" again. Eeeesh.
You are doing an incredible job of balancing everything, even if it doesn't feel like you are. I think you are.
This weekend was so fun. Wish it were still happening.
Great job on the 62/13. I was wondering today how the h-e-double hockey sticks you did that. But then I remembered how much you rule.
Love the pics and all that sunshine! I almost forgot what the colour of sun looks like -- Hahahahahahaah!
Way to rock out that wicked brick workout too!! WOW!!!!!! :) :) :) :)
No worries girl. I would't want to be responsible for you slacking off on your trianing ;)
Nice workouts. Just try to keep US posted on your workouts. I'll be disapointed if I don't get my 'VfP' crack hit every once in a while.
Amy - Never apologize for simply "living your life" - busy or not. These next few weeks are so critical and the only goals you should have are 1) training 2) loving on your husband 3) eating and 4)sleeping and not necessarily in that order. You are almost through the worst of it, I promise. Hang in there and keep on kicking some ass! Kristina
:) Just checking in on you!!!
wow. huge workout sis, great great great job.
cute pix.
important question: is white wine one of the options that the fleet feet coolers at the trail head offer? i'm just sayin'....
